News and Events
While the focus of our current and
emerging projects are diverse, the Foundation's mission became
increasingly coherent in 2006. We are becoming a focal
point for innovative, multidimensional approaches to
dealing with some of the world's intensifying conflicts
by catalyzing support for a new, more collaborative
and creative kind of leadership.
For those of you who have witnessed our efforts over
the past twenty years, this focus may not be surprising.
After all, many of the projects that we have undertaken
- ranging from the Soviet American Entertainment Summit
in the Eighties, to Global Partners and the Bipartisan
Congressional Retreats in the Nineties, to our current
projects - have reflected this priority. However, never
before has this central mission of the Foundation been
so clear or so compelling. As reflected in the title
of my recently published book, we are only initiating
or supporting projects that build knowledge and capacity
to lead through conflict, rather than simply making
conflicts worse.
This year we celebrate the publication of the first
Global Leadership Network book, Leadership Is Global.
We have launched the Global Leaders Program (with Outward
Bound International). We have also began to expand the
Network itself, and have welcome several new participants
to our most recent meetings. In addition, the Abraham's
Path initiative has gained new momentum and is planning
an important next step later this year.
