What is Global Leadership?
The leadership we believe is demanded
in response to today’s many complex issues we call
global leadership or leading beyond borders. Global leadership
is built on the premise of synergy – that all peoples,
regions and cultures offer vital elements to forging
global solutions. It is truly cross-border leadership,
which embraces diversity and fosters collaboration. This
kind of leadership, the ability to lead beyond borders,
enables us to recognize our common connection, envision
new possibilities, innovate new solutions, and support
the changes in perspective and systems being called forth.

Current GLN Initiatives
Strengthen our Global Network
With several dozen global leadership practitioners as members, representing
nearly every corner of the globe, our network is already engaged in regular
regional and international gatherings. We are expanding to include other
practitioners, organizations and networks that are similarly inspired. Members’ knowledge
and experience is being collected and integrated to create a shared framework
to foster our continued work.
Collaborate on a Global Leadership Book
At a time when human conflict and global insustainability threaten our very survival and new paradigms of civilization and leadership are emerging as a response, GLN co-chairs Walter Link (Europe), Thais Corral (Brazil) and Mark Gerzon (USA) have co-edited a diverse and synergetic book by 22 co-authors from around the world. Leadership is Global is the first independent, globally written and designed book on “global leadership.” It was launched on November 2nd with the opening keynote of the International Leadership Association conference in Chicago.
Design Leadership Workshops
In cooperation with its members and partner organizations, GLN offers educational programs and training experiences that further the understanding and application of local & global leadership perspectives and skills. These programs are tailored to fit the culture and specific needs of each group’s participants. They have been offered to leaders in civil society and business, governments and translateral organizations in such countries Brazil, Croatia, the USA and Kenya, where we partnered with Outward Bound International to clime Mt Kilimanjaro in July of 2006 with leaders from all continents, while GLN offered leadership training.
Build Consulting Practice
The GLN has developed a team of experienced practitioners to work with organizations
in need of incorporating an understanding of global issues, perspectives
and leadership practices into their work. Building on several already successful
engagements, the GLN is a unique resource, providing cross-border considerations
from both theoretical and practical vantage points to a wide array of organizations
finding their way in the emerging global economy and society.
